Managing Your eNews Audience (List) in Mailchimp

If you have not yet upgraded to Essentials Foundation marketing program, Mailchimp is the platform used to send your monthly eNews. For quick reference, here are instructions for the most commonly-performed list maintenance actions.

You have your own account, with a username and password. If you are not able to login, please attempt to request your username and password at https://login.mailchimp.com/?locale=en. While the IMS team may have access to your account, we are not able to update or retrieve your login. 

For all operations, start by logging into your Mailchimp account.

We don’t keep track of your login information, so once get logged in, be sure to record it in a safe place. We recommend LastPass. Pricing starts as low as $2 per month, so there is no excuse for losing your logins.

Add Names One at a Time
Click List.

Select your Audience (list)

Click Manage Audience

Click Add Subscribers (Be sure to select the box to add the contact to the eNews group)

Import a List of Names
Follow the directions located at https://mailchimp.com/help/import-contacts-mailchimp/#Import_New_Contacts

IMPORTANT: Be sure to add your contacts to the appropriate group by navigating to the Add contacts to groups section and check the box next to each group that applies.

For instance:

Subscribe me to the following…Check the box for eNews and/or Blog (depending on your campaign service).

Unsubscribes
Click Audience. Select your list.

Click Manage Subscribers.

Click Unsubscribe People.

Paste the emails you want to unsubscribe, and click Unsubscribe.

You will see a message at the top of the next screen with information about your unsubscribe request.

Change a Subscriber Name
Click Audience. Click Manage Audience. Select your list.

Find your subscriber (Tip: Use the magnifying glass search tool to the right of the List navigation)

Click on the subscriber’s email address.

Click the Edit button (to the right of the Subscriber Details heading)

Make your change and click to Save.

Change an Email Address
To change an email address, it is necessary to unsubscribe the OLD address as a preventative measure to avoid the old address accidentally being added back. Then add the NEW address as a new subscriber.

Click Audience. Select your list.

Click Manage Audience.

Find your subscriber (Tip: Use the magnifying glass search tool to the right of the List navigation)

Click on the subscriber’s email address.

Click the Unsubscribe button.

Click Audience. Select your list.

Click Manage Audience.

Click Add Subscribers then Add a Subscriber.

Enter the appropriate subscriber info.

Check the box for eNews and/or Blog (depending on your campaign service).

Check the box for This person gave me permission to email them.

Check the box for If this person is already on my list, update them.

Click the Subscribe button.

Export Your Audience (List)
Click Audience. Select your list. Click Manage Audience.

Click Manage Contacts.

View Contacts. Click Export as CSV. Check your email for a link to download your export.
